Camera Essentials for Bloggers
Prior to me starting to blog I was an amateur photographer. I started a photography business but didn’t ever promote it. I simply enjoyed taking photographs of nature over people. After people would view my photography they always wanted to know what camera I was using. When I first started photography, I began with a Canon 60D. It didn’t last long before I truly wanted to up my game and go full-frame. So my next and current camera is the Canon 6D. It’s basically the parent to the Canon 60D. Below I’ll discuss some of the camera essentials for bloggers.
The first choice you will have to make is which camera brand to go with. I highly recommend Canon or Nikon. I’m personally a Canon user but I know Nikon is their competitor and both are fantastic high quality cameras. Whichever brand you decide, you’ll stick with that brand’s lenses as well. The next decision you’ll be making is for crop-sensor or full frame. Don’t know the difference? This video discusses the differences between the two. There’s so much to learn and know when it comes to camera essentials and blogging.
As a blogger, I still fully recommend getting the Canon 6D although the Canon 60D is a more affordable option by a few hundred dollars. Of course you’ll need a lens to attach to the camera. The camera and lens bundles are never good. The lens that you get is just not good quality at all. The best lens that’s affordable is the canon 50mm 1.8 although if you have the money, getting the canon 50mm 1.4 is totally the way to go. This is a standard lens and does not zoom. You zoom by moving your feet or if your camera is on a tripod, by moving the tripod closer or further away from the subject. Still wanting to learn more on how to pick the right DSLR camera for you? If you truly want to create beautifully unique content and high quality images, you’ll need to spend some money to get there. If you want a better camera than the Canon 6D, you’ll find yourself looking at the Canon 5D Mark III or Canon 5D Mark IV. These are two of the most expensive cameras of Canon, but they are also costly for a reason. They truly are amazing camera. Both os these cameras are great for videos as well. The only downside to these is that they don’t have WiFi built in like the Canon 6D does. That makes it simple to get the photographs from your camera directly to your phone without the need of a computer.
Another fantastic lens you will want to invest in, is the Canon 70-200mm 2.8 although getting the Canon 70-200 4 isn’t a bad option and it totally more affordable. Both of these lenses are high quality and part of the Canon L series. A Canon L series lens has the pretty red strip around it and has a higher quality glass which comes at a cost. Yes, you can see the differences in the lenses and see a better quality photo with the better cameras. They most certainly aren’t required and since you are a blogger and not a photographer you don’t need the absolute best of the best.
