A few years ago I started reading blogs. So many blogs on various topics. I still read them today, and many new blogs as well. What I also noticed was that they were making money from them. I enjoy writing and was curious if I could make money from blogging as well. Was I good enough to earn money blogging? How are they doing it was another question I had.
Do Bloggers actually make money?
Yes, many of them do and it’s completely legit.
How much money do bloggers actually make?
Some bloggers make millions, which is impressive. Some make enough for it to be a full time job. While others make less and some make no money at all. No amount of money is guaranteed but there isn’t really a limit to the amount you can earn from blogging either. This is a reason why I love blogging. It can end up being a great source of income whether your full time job or simply a side hustle.
How long until I see an income from blogging?
This completely depends on you and how often you blog. It also depends on how large your audience is. Typically the larger your audience, the more money you can make but that isn’t always the case. As a new blogger your goal should be to make a part time income within 3-8 months and a full time income within 1-2 years. Some can have a full time income within a few months while others take about a year or two to reach a part time income.
Blogging isn’t a get rich quick type of thing. For the first about 6 months I was blogging in my spare time, and now I do my best to post frequently, at least twice a month but weekly is even better. I make a full time income from my blog most months.
How can I earn money blogging?
There’s many different ways to earn income from blogging. A few are sponsored posts, affiliate marketing, influencer networks, ads, selling products, and offering services. I don’t do all of these and I make a pretty good income. Earning money blogging is great because there’s so many ways to do it.
Sponsored posts are a fantastic way to earn money. You can opt to work directly with the company by reaching out to them and pitching yourself to brands. Typically this also means a larger payout as there is not middle man taking a cut. If you aren’t confident yet to reach out to brands directly, working with influencer networks are great. Some networks you can check out are, Clever, Influence Central, Tapfluence, and Collectively.
Most sites you use every day have an affiliate program. They are most commonly found on the bottom of the website. You can always search the company name and add the word affiliate to it. Affiliate marketing is talking about the products you use and that you trust and enjoy. Never promote something you don’t like or wouldn’t use yourself. Some examples of affiliate programs you can join are Amazon, Shop Style, CJ Affiliate, and ShareASale.
By using ad networks you can place ads on your blog. This isn’t going to be bringing in a large amount of money compared to sponsored posts of affiliate marketing but it’s another way to earn some extra income. Some ad networks you can apply to are Google Adsense or Mediavine. Trust me, there’s more out there though.
There are so many products you can create and sell on your blog. You can do digital or physical products. A few examples are e-courses, printables, e-books, or even stock photos. Other ideas are planners, workbooks, art prints, or even clothes. Be creative here when coming up with items you can sell through your blog but make sure it’s worth it.
Offering services is great for your readers, especially if they are wanting to begin a blog and you have tips and tricks to offer them that you don’t want to just give away for free. Examples of these can be anything from blog consulting or social media management whether it be for business owners or bloggers. Depending on what you know and blog about you can even offer life coaching or health coaching as well.
As you can see from reading if you’ve made it this far is there’s so many ways a blogger can earn income. This is only a short list of a few ways bloggers can earn money. These may be the main ways for some but others may have dozens of ways to earn money thanks to blogging.
